All you really need to make the most of your visit to Prague

Just for a snack

Truly Czech fast food consists of open sandwiches („chlebíčky„) and mayonnais-based salads („saláty“). It probably is no one's idea of healthy food but I am no prophet of it either. Just offering truly Czech experience. And I personally love it. If you don't like it, skip it. The best place to grab those is:
Zlatý kříž
Check the English version in the upper left corner of the webpage. Places like this used to be scattered all over Czech cities and towns. There used to be dozens of them in Prague. They have been dying away fast. This one is a great survivalist.
Libeřské lahůdky
A new deli chain in the best old tradition, 17 shops scattered all around the city. If you see it, try it. The most accessible shop can be found here

More stuffy

Havelská koruna
This self-service place is a fairly new diner (ok, let’s say over 20 years old new, can’t remember really) but it copies the model of a traditional Czech „bufet“ that almost ceased to exist in Prague; low prices, reasonable quality, Czech meals, long queues around noon during working hours.
Lokál
Great place for Czech cuisine and excellent Pilsen.
Pivovarský dům
As above, a great place for Czech cuisine plus much more interesting beers of their own brew.
Na verandách
Great meals, beers by the only surviving big brewery in Prague (internationally owned though), weird neighbourhood. One of the places you’d hardly ever pass by accidentally.

Shapely places

Cafe Imperial
It’s really posh, but this one is worth it. Great Wienerschnitzel!
Cafe Adria
If you don’t know about it, you won’t ever find it. Nice art-nouveaux place. Reasonably priced meals during working hours.
U vystřelenýho voka
One of the best venues for atmosphere. Live music. Designed by Martin Velíšek
Cross club
Now, this happens to become quite a popular attraction, but it stays what it is: great industrial venue for music, or just to hang around and wonder

Central meeting point

Cafe Louvre
It’s ok for (almost) every one.

Great hangarounds

Velryba
Sedmé nebe
Na hradbách
Café Sladkovský

Greatest Hideaway

Konibar
A tiny delikatessen shop with a hidden winebar behind it. They say it has stayed the way it is for almost a century, it’s definitely been there ever since I can remember. My favourite hiding place.
